What could be more exciting than digging into the lives of outstanding Bible characters such as Hannah, Eli, Samuel, Saul, Jonathan, and David? These two books are originally part of the four Books of Kings, recording early history of Israel. Three themes are considered in this study; prayer, the rise of the kingdom, and the rise of the office of prophet. During this time in Israel's history we see a shift God moving through priests to sending His messages through prophets. God's chosen form of government is a kingdom ruled by a king. The coming millennial Kingdom is foreshadowed as we look for the soon-coming King of Kings, our Lord Jesus Christ. The student will use the King James Study Bible (specific version used by PBU) and J. Vernon McGee's research on the History of Israel.
